1. What kind of images can be accepted?
Please make sure the whole artwork is visible in the photo. In addition to a clear overall image, please provide close-up images of each side, any markings, such as maker’s signatures and marks, and any conditions.
2. Does my valuation cost anything?
Thank you for choosing Alden’s Auction, your first lot valuation is free of charge, subsequent fees are based on Alden's consignment rules and will be checked with you by the auction house staff.
3. How do I sell my item?
We recommend that you use our website to upload your information, or you can contact us by email. If you have no objections to the auction estimate, the terms of the consignment, and the timing of the listing, our staff will draft a consignment document for you to review, sign, and return. Once we receive your signed agreement, we can proceed to organize shipping.
4. How much does it cost to sell my item with Alden's?
Your specialist will present you with specific consignment terms, and if the consigned item sells at auction, a consignor's commission is charged based on a percentage of the hammer price in the terms.
5. How do I ship my item to Alden’s?
Alden’s can put you in touch with trusted shippers in your area who will assist you with the safe shipment of your items. You are also welcome to choose your own logistics provider. Please note that if you are shipping internationally, taxes and import duties may apply.
6. When will I be paid, if my item sells at auction?
Payment for the lots will be settled within 35 natural days after the end of the auction, after deduction of the consignor's commission and other related expenses. Payment will be made by bank transfer, please contact us if you have special needs.
7. What happens if my item does not sell at auction?
At the end of the auction, the staff will check the results with you, and if your lot does not sell, we will offer more options based on your specific situation.
8. What kind of art works dose Alden’s accept?
As an auction house specializing in Asian art, we welcome consignments including but not limited to Chinese porcelain, scholar's objects, bronzes, ancient Chinese paintings and calligraphy, modern Chinese paintings and calligraphy, Japanese tea utensils, Japanese paintings, Japanese antique art and more.
